Musashi's duel with Sasaki Kojiro (the demon of the western providence), who wielded a nodachi. Musashi killed him with a bokken that according to legend was carved from an oar used on the boat that carried him to the island. Musashi always tends to show up late to duels which some considered dishonorable while others say it was used to unnerve his opponent. Another theory is he waited for the sun to get in the right position to blind his opponent.
