95 - Maybe it is not the best picture from today, but the grandad who took it made my day. Because sometimes it is not what the picture shows, but the person who takes it 😍🌎 .

The project to create this incredible 14-metre high stone carving began in 1976 when Maori carver Matahi Brightwell was asked by his grandmother, Te Huatahi Susie Gilbert , to create a likeness of her ancestor Ngātoroirangi, a visionary Māori navigator who guided the Tūwharetoa and Te Arawa tribes to the Taupō area over a thousand years ago. And my nana once asked for a framed photo of us kids, same same. #dontaskformuch#maori#culture#visionary#carving#newzealand
