In the foreground is a section of the old #aztec temple in the center of Mexico City, over time the Spanish tore down all the Aztec buildings and tried to destroy the temple but it was too massive. They did make a huge dent, though, and used much of the stone rubble from the temple to force local slave labor over many years to erect the gigantic Metropolitan Cathedral you see in the background. It is the largest cathedral in the Western Hemisphere. If you look closely you can see the similarity in the stone walls of the Cathedral to the stones in the remains of the temple, especially the lower part of the church exterior. That's what I was trying to capture but it's a bit beyond the capacity of my usually more than adequate iPhone camera.
