Just a few of my favourite underwater photos from our recent trip to the amazing @misoolecoresort and it's surrounding island in the island chain of raja ampat in Indonesia. A beautiful resort with an incredible ethos doing so much for the ocean through their conservation efforts. Be sure to check them out!
A bit of an assortment of underwater shots here. The first is of a squid on a night snorkel, chilling on the surface of the water, hence the reflection. The fourth shot is of an orangutan shrimp I took on our discovery dive, never mind being hairy, he walks around like an ape! The other photo worth a mention is the seventh, which could be mistaken for coral. It's actually an octopus! He put on an incredible show for us changing from colour to colour, but most impressively, morphing the texture of his skin from smooth to lumpy, then spiky.
All photographs were taken by me on my compact tough camera, Olympus tg4. Bar the one photo of the shrimp, everything else was taken while snorkelling.

Often described as coral gardens, reefs are actually interconnected and interdependent networks of creatures, each relying on the other for survival. Both resilient and fragile, they have evolved over millions of years to provide oases of life in otherwise nutrient deficient warm tropical water.
