Today's run was awful!
2 mile warmup
4 mile tempo
1 mile cool down 😵 My Garmin was wigging out. My legs felt like jello. Humidity was ridiculous. And I just wasn't feeling it. 🤷🏼♀️ I wasn't hitting my times (as you can see from my 2nd picture) I was ALL over the place. Instead of dwelling on this run, I'm going to learn from it and move forward. 🙃
Last run before I race in the Flagstar bank half marathon this Saturday! 4 recovery miles last night by the water and heading out in a bit for 5 shakeout miles. Excited and a bit nervous for this race. First race since my knee started giving me issues so lets see how it holds up!
Despite my age and my weight, I must say, I'm pretty healthy and in great shape!!! I feel better than I did in my 20s, in fact!! And for me to have started running so late in life...well...I truly thought I'd run into issues of limited mobility. Miraculously, since starting my Run Life, I have not injured myself and I'm grateful for that!!! However; I DO have some old high school volleyball injuries in my knees that once in a while will come back to haunt me and taunt me.
On Tuesday during Shift Shop, one of the moves was a twisting lunge...and the very first time I did it, I knew I'd tweaked my knee. Sure enough, after my workout, I could feel fluid around me knee cap. Arg!!! JUST when I was improving on my runs!!! Yesterday morning, I still ran and worked out as usual, but I was feeling my knee get worse afterwards, so I iced it the rest of the day. It felt better this morning, but I'm taking it easy until it's completely better before putting pressure on it with runs...so light walks for me for now!!! Gotta listen to my body so I don't hurt it more, but gonna keep moving so I don't get out of the habit!!! 💪😎
P.S. Our backyard neighbors have a horse!!! See it grazing behind me...?! 😁🐎
