I spent the last hour of the #Oscars texting writer @darylunlost about the story she planned on writing for @theeverygirl_ this morning. The issue most important to us and the team was (very) clearly the diversity in the Oscars this year. I could say so much but Daryl covered everything perfectly, so I hope you'll take a moment to read her article on theeverygirl.com
Being behind a site that is for equality, love, and acceptance and being able to share posts like this is what it's all about. We've been told to "stay in our lane" by some readers who seem to think we shouldn't cover political issues. And while we will continue to remain non-partisan, we will also continue to stay in the lane that stands for equality for everyone.
Let's end this post with my favorite quote from last night. "This goes out to all those black and brown boys and girls and non-gender conforming who don’t see themselves. We’re trying to show you you and us. So thank you, thank you, this is for you." - Tarrell Alvin McCraney, co-writer, #Moonlight#equality#acceptance
