“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
I love this collection for kids, although I would have called it differently (maybe just big dreams) and especially love the book on #mayaangelou ⭐
I've already read a couple of her books (and poems) and got connected to her and her story. Even if she had her own journey, she IS every woman, inspiring us to love and trust ourselves and the process of life. ⭐
I would like to illustrate more women's stories as a book series and I would include Lauryn Hill, Madonna, @missmayim, etc plus a few of my friends!
Who would you write an inspiring book about?
"When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young."
•She was a writer, an educator, and one of the most influential literary voices of our time. That Marguerite Ann Johnson. Penning expressions of womanhood, politics, and her ancestry. Words that still give strength to people today. I would love to retell even just a piece of her story. So here I rise. Day 3. •📸 : @dalonfaciondf
