Tonight, I had one of those runs that I just didn't want to end. I had just enough time to squeeze in a run before heading out again. I questioned my ability to fit in even five miles, but the running came easy. Those five miles also helped me appreciate the personal characteristics and attributes I can work on throughout my training and each and every individual run. Some days running can strenuous, and other days it can be spiritual for me...but I'm grateful for this sport in its whole ❤️
Finally, an easy run that felt easy! Tonight I decided not to look at my watch. I just wanted to enjoy the run. It's honestly been a little while since I actually enjoyed running while I was running if that makes sense. It was a gorgeous evening, 87° but didn't feel like it. I felt great. I was thinking it must be because I ate oatmeal and eggs for breakfast. That's not a combo I've ever eaten. Then I was thinking maybe it was the lentils that I cooked and ate for the first time ever. Then I was thinking it was maybe because I did so much massaging, stretching and foam rolling my legs and hips yesterday and today. Then I was thinking, maybe it is because I swam yesterday. Maybe swimming is exactly what I needed added to my routine. About half way through the run, I remembered that I put on my old trusty Saucony Kinvaras that I have run my fastest half in and 2 marathons. It may be a combination of all of those things, but goodness it made me oh so excited about my new shoes arriving. I needed a run that felt good for my mental game before my long run this weekend! Bring on Friday, peeps! Let's make it a good one! .
