With any type of shoot—a brand or editorial photo shoot, a portrait session, or any photographed occasion—the planning can make or break your experience. Yesterday, I shared Christine’s inspiration behind her branded imagery shoot. Today, I’m thrilled to turn things over to Roberta West of @theromanticiststudios to share how she coordinated the shoot! ⠀

Can I confess something?
I am totally guilty of following trends. And I confess that shooting on #film felt like just another trend.
But then I realized something - how can film be trendy when it's been the most classic form of photography for generations? In fact, after shooting film at our weddings for three years now, I believe that film actually looks the BEST at our most traditional weddings.
I love how film wraps legacy and tradition into a blanket of soft, imperfect romance. How film helps me slow down, step into the past, and capture something timeless.
Something permanent. And irreplaceable. Something that has been around for a very long time. And that doesn't seem trendy at all.
Josh and Anne's film images from their classic #usnavalacademywedding are up on the bloggy-blog today and when I saw these frames come back from the lab, I felt like they perfectly captured everything that I feel about the imperfect beautiful art of film! Check them out at the #linkinprofile ! -E #tyfilm#tycouple#tyweddings
Becca is one of the most joyful people and her smile draws you to her immediately. Her adventurous spirit drew her to the PNW a few years ago and she has thoroughly enjoyed exploring. Later this year she will be heading onto her next adventure of finding a place to call home closer to her family, who are everything to her. I get it, I really do! (but we’ll miss you SO much when the time comes!) Thanks, Becca for letting me capture you in this place we love! Link to this oh-so-fun and refreshing session in my profile!
We got about 10 minutes of shooting between thunder, lightning and rain showers -thanks to @grafwriterjake for keeping his radar app open the whole day just to watch the crazy weather. These two didn't let a little thunderstorm [by little- I mean crazy huge kind of storm] steal their day. In the midst of the chaos they held on to the joy of starting a new life together.
Thanks @mccourysunlockeddesignco for the beautiful wedding signs!
And special thanks to @tinatrendytrunk for the fabulous reception.
Being a creative or entrepreneur can be a tough path and one with a lot of fear. Fear that we might do the wrong thing or say the wrong thing. We are fearful of showing our true selves because of the possibility of rejection. Don't let fear stop you from achieving your dream!
"Awarding of Colours"
Back in 2015 Ottawa Valley Hunt Masters of Foxhounds of the Ottawa Valley Hunt, (at that time) MFH Anne McKibbin, MFH Peter Leach and MFH Grits McMullen had a few announcements that included "Awarding of Colours" after a delicious "Closing Hunt Dinner". I was thrilled to learn that the Ottawa Valley hunt awarded colours to a non-riding member that have contributed to the Ottawa Valley Hunt through her photography! YES, that is right, It was a great honour to receive this recognition for my contribution to the Ottawa Valley Hunt. I have been photographing the OVH since 2012 and have been a Hunt Member for five years.
As a non-riding member, although I usually ride with the Road whip in his truck. I was awarded colours for performing good service to the organization with my photography. "Colours may be awarded to individual members who do not ride but contribute to the OVH in significant and lasting ways. This member has more than filled this criterion. She has probably done more to put the OVH into the forefront of the North American Foxhunting community than anyone. Her photographs of the OVH have been seen on the cover of Covertside, in articles in foxhunting magazines, in photographic competitions, and on her own and the OVH website. As a result of her photographic excellence and dedication, the OVH has gone from being almost unknown internationally to one of the best known in North America. It gives me great pleasure to award OVH colours to Heather Swan." ~ Peter Leach
Thank you to the Joint Masters of Foxhounds of the Ottawa Valley Hunt, Anne McKibbin, Grtis McMullen and Peter Leach. I thank you. So thankful to have been given the opportunity to ride with our road whip, Dennis for the past five years!
