Totally agree about #sidekicks being under-utilised in this day and age of modern #martialarts , especially in #k1 rules #kickboxing but then again, everyone has their own tastes and preferences but Joe is right IMO.

The #sidekick , in both front leg and spinning (or turning) variations is one of the most underrated techniques in martial arts. I was very fortunate to learn Tae Kwon Do under the tutelage of the Jae Hun Kim #TaeKwonDo school in Boston.
Mr. Kim and Mr. Michael O'Malley (a multiple time national champion) emphasized a lot of heavy bag work and power in their training program. Because of that their students learned damaging power kicks rather than point scoring techniques. Their philosophy was that a true martial artist should be able to deliver brutal #power with every #technique executed, and that a student who trained under them must be able to defend themselves in a real fight, not just win a tournament by scoring points.
Today we're seeing more #fighters having success with traditional martial arts techniques but in my opinion the side kick is one of the most overlooked and under appreciated.
