Hotel Emperor of Roman "Hotelul Imparatul Romanilor" dates back to 1773 when Philipp Collignon changed the name of the old inn opened in 1555, the inn that functioned on the site of the current building at no. 6. After the demolition of the old building (2 July 1891), the hotel temporarily moves into the dream houses (9, Nicolae Balcescu Street). On June 12, 1894, the construction of the new hotel building financed by the General Savings Bank becomes the owner. Architect: Friederich Maetz. On September 7, 1895, the new hotel, which initially had a restaurant and 44 rooms, was inaugurated. Instead of the large salon today, there is an open courtyard surrounded by arcades with a fountain in the middle (Arkadenhof). The café was set up in the street where the fashion house Krasovsky was once. On the first floor there was a meeting room; Over time, the hotel hosts an impressive number of personalities such as: Franz Listz, Johann Strauss, Johannes Brahms, Emperor Joseph II of Austria, King Carol 12 of Sweden, Mihai Eminescu, Mrs. Danielle Mitterand, hosted three German presidents, Roman Herzog, Karl Carstens, Johannes Rau and Prince Charles.
